Diwali the festival of lights takes place on the darkest night (the first night of the new moon) in the month of Kartik in the Hindu calendar.
What is Diwali?
Diwali is celebrated in south India with great tradition. Usually people get up in the early morning and taking oil bath. South Indian sweets were made in each of home to mark the Diwali. South Indian sweets are included murukku, adhirasam, rava laddu, Gulab Jamun, Halwa etc. Usually peoples visited the nearest temple. All south Indian home included nonvegetarian preparation in their home. Kids are enjoying diwali with fire crackers.

Diwali is one of major Hindu festival celebrated by millions of people around the world. The festival marks the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. The word “Deepavali” is derived from the Sanskrit words “deepa,” meaning lamp or light, and “avali,” meaning row. Therefore, Deepavali translates to a “row of lights.”
